Brief Directions By Road:
A fairly straightforward journey this one from the M11. Come off at Junction 8 signposted Bishop's Stortford and Service area. Take the 2nd exit off the roundabout onto the A120. After approx. 200 yards at the next roundabout turn left which is Dunmow Road. After approx. 500 yards, opposite the Golf Club, turn right into the Industrial Estate and follow the signs for the ground.
Car Parking:
£1.00 and space for 150 cars behind The Airport End terrace however this charge may well be wavered for this game.
Directions By Train:
Bishop's Stortford is on the Liverpool Street-Cambridge line and the journey will take 40-50 minutes from Liverpool Street. The ground is a good 25-minute walk away and a taxi is your best option. Out of the station turn right and then left into London Road. At the traffic lights turn right into Dunmow Road and step it out!
Supporters Coaches:
For information check out the BFCSA website at www.bfcsa.co.uk.
Ground Description:
Bishop's Stortford will play in the Blue Square South and their average home attendance last season was around the 450 mark.
Woodside Park has only been in existence for 6 years and is a very smart and tidy arena. The Main Stand holds approx. 400 and has terrace or paddock areas either side of it. Both ends have cover although the side terrace is uncovered.
Eating And Drinking Locally:
Between Railway Station and ground on the Dunmow Road you will find the Red Cow which will cater for all your needs.
The Social Club:
The social club is accessible from inside and outside of the ground and all will be made welcome. It would be nice if we could support the club by using these facilities.
Admission Prices:
Adults £10.00 Concessions £5.00 Under 16's £4.00 Under 12's £2.00 or free if accompanied by an adult.
Our Last Meeting & Memories:
We have met the Blues on 10 occasions, mostly in this Herts Senior Cup competition. We met Stortford at the Semi Final stage in February 2007 and won 2-0 thanks to goals from Constanti and Vieira. However the most remembered game is the replayed semi final in the Club Call Cup in 1989. A 1-1 away draw thanks to Gary Bull set up a comfortable 4-1 win at Underhill. The goals that night coming from Steve Ketteridge, Gary Poole (2) and Frank Murphy.
Celebrity Watch:
Stortford's original ground Rhodes Avenue was named after the most famous person to have been born here and that was Cecil John Rhodes the founder of the previously known country of Rhodesia, now of course Zimbabwe. The only other piece of interesting information I could find was that Glen Hoddle used to own a sports shop here - great!
