SPEEDING UP ENTRY AT UNDERHILL
Posted on: Wed 21 May 2008
Barnet FC officials became frustrated last season by the queues at the new South turnstiles and it became quickly evident that this was mainly due to supporters trying to choose an individual seat whilst others waited for entry. This was temporarily speeded up by making the seating unreserved but, importantly, this policy also resulted in a reduction in the overall seated capacity by 10-15 per cent so a more permanent solution had to be found.
The ground improvements and changes over the last two years mean the club can now be much more flexible in how they operate the stadium and importantly can now offer big incentives for supporters to purchase tickets in advance, which will go a long way to help speed up entry. This coupled with new "ticket only" dedicated turnstiles mean more flexible entry and the seating can once again be reserved. The full details of the new arrangements for the ground will be announced tomorrow.
Club Chairman Tony Kleanthous said "The way we operate had to improve and the new additions around the ground make all of these changes possible. For the last two seasons we have had to concentrate on the physical aspects of the stadium, sometimes to the detriment of our staff and supporters alike, but although more work is still needed we have made some huge strides and continue to do so. Now is the time for us to focus more on the matchday experience for supporters and we are investing heavily in new and better trained staff to go along with the new facilities, but we need your patience because this will be more of an evolution rather than a revolution.
"Importantly, we are now able to offer better packages and pricing for our supporters and we hope to continue and add to our successful initiatives like the "four for forty" and "two friendlies for the price of one". We are doing our best and I know sometimes, for some of you, that's not good enough but at least we're trying. The new season ticket discounts have been well received but we need to sell hundreds more for the campaign to be successful and the club really needs your help to make this work.
"We all share the same dream and hopes for our little club and we enjoy punching above our weight but we do not want to be a "little club" forever and, with your support, I know we can fill the ground and move on to bigger and better things."
