Speedy forward Alex Nicholls joined Barnet Football Club on a free transfer in the summer of 2016 after leaving Exeter City.

Capable of playing on the flank or up front, Alex arrived at The Hive having played more than 250 times in the Football League.

Born in Stourbridge, Alex began his career at Walsall and scored 24 times in 127 league starts for the Saddlers during a seven-year stay.

In 2012 Alex joined Northampton Town but a broken leg halted his progress and he made just 21 league appearances during a two-year spell with the Cobblers, scoring either goals.

Once fully recovered Alex moved to the West Country to join Exeter City, initially on loan, and was part of the Grecians side which took Liverpool to an FA Cup replay during the 2015/16 campaign.

He left St James' Park a popular figure after scoring 18 times in 88 league appearances.
