Barnet FC are delighted to announce that The Hive, will be the venue for the 2013 FA WSL Continental Cup Final. The final takes place on Friday 4th October between Arsenal and Lincoln and will be shown exclusively live on BT Sport, 7.30pm KO.
Two times trophy winners Arsenal have made it through to the final stage for the third successive year, after seeing off Everton in a monumental 4-0 semi-final victory. They will face Lincoln who clinched a win against Liverpool following a nail biting penalty shoot-out. It is third time lucky for Rick Passmoor’s side who have lost at semi-final stage for the past two years. Both teams will be going all out to secure the prestigious piece of silverware in the crowning match of the FA WSL season.
The FA WSL Continental Cup Final promises to be a spectacular finish to another massive year for the women’s game, which has seen continued growth in participation levels, unprecedented media coverage and growing crowds at club matches throughout the FA WSL season.
And to help mark a special year for The Football Association – the 150th anniversary and 20 years since they took over the running of the women’s game, there is a special pricing structure with group bookings of at least 15 people, able to attend the match for as little as £1.50 each. And with a family ticket costing only £10, football fans can experience top class women’s football at an affordable price. Tickets will be on sale from 4th September.
The Chairman of Barnet FC, Anthony Kleanthous, said: “We have a very proud history of women’s football here at Barnet FC and we are delighted to be hosting the FA WSL Continental Cup Final for the second season in a row, and this year at the new stadium, The Hive. The final is the show-piece event in the FA WSL calendar and we are all looking forward to a thrilling match between two of the best teams in the country. We hope football fans will come out in force to enjoy fantastic football and a great family occasion”.
Prior to seeing the two teams in action, fans are invited to take part in FREE, fun football based interactive games, brought by Continental Tyres. Games include batak boards, a speed cage, a target shoot inflatable plus a new trailer that houses digital stations and the FA WSL Cup, Cyprus Cup and Continental Cup. To add to the enhanced fan experience, there will also be hair braiding and face painting, all of which will take place outside the stadium from 5.30pm.
