Bees duo sign first professional contracts

We are thrilled to announce that academy graduates James Callan and Sam Granville have signed their first professional deals with the club.

James Callan

Callan worked his way through the under 18’s before being handed the opportunity to work with the first-team on a regular basis in 2020.

The 18-year-old has since gone on to make history when he became the youngest ever goalkeeper to make an appearance in the Vanarama National League – coming on as a substitute at Sutton United in 2021.

After being named on the bench on a number of occasions last season, Callan is now ready to fight for his place in the first-team.

Sam Granville

Granville has been at The Hive London since the age of 12 and progressed through the youth teams before stepping up to the first-team at the start of the 2020/21 season.

The midfielder made his Bees debut on the opening day of last season against Notts County and made his full debut a week later at Solihull Moors.

Having earned his first professional deal, Granville will be eager to get some more first-team minutes under his belt to further develop himself as a player.

Dean Brennan said: “James and Sam have excellent attitudes and our club has shown good faith in them by rewarding them with professional contracts.

“We are looking forward to continuing working with them and hope that they take this new opportunity with both hands.”
