Bees secure Connor Smith

Barnet FC is excited to have secured the services of Connor Smith on a permanent deal from Boreham Wood.

The experienced midfielder signed his first professional contract at Watford in 2011 and made eight appearances in the Championship.

Smith then went onto win two promotions from League Two in as many seasons with AFC Wimbledon and Plymouth Argyle.

He also played a pivotal role in Wealdstone’s promotion from the National League South in 2019/20 under Dean Brennan’s stewardship.

The 29-year-old was part of the Wood’s team that reached the Emirates FA Cup quarter finals last season, having beaten AFC Wimbledon and AFC Bournemouth along the way.

Smith has also had a taste of international football after representing the Republic of Ireland at under 17, 19 and 21 levels between 2009 and 2014.

Dean Brennan said: “Connor is a big positive character who will be a great addition to our squad.

“He has been involved in four promotions during his career and has a lot of experience which will be really beneficial to us.”

The deal is subject to the usual regulatory processes.
