Kevin Maher began his playing career at Tottenham Hotspur before a free transfer took him to Southend United in 1998.

The 45-year-old was at Roots Hall for 10 years before playing for the likes of Oldham Athletic, Gillingham and Dagenham & Redbridge.

Maher’s first coaching role came at the Shrimpers in 2015 as the Under 21 and Under 23 Manager.

He then spent three spells as a caretaker manager, one with Chelmsford City and two for Bristol Rovers before returning to Southend again in October 2021 as Head Coach.

ONE TO WATCH

Jason Demetriou

Jason Demetriou is a product of Leyton Orient’s academy and he made his senior debut for the club in November 2006.

The defender returned to England in 2015 to play for Walsall before joining Southend United in 2016 which is where he has been ever since.
