Match Report | Notts County 4-1 Barnet

Despite an excellent display against the league leaders, The Bees suffered a late 4-1 defeat against Notts County at Meadow Lane.

It was the perfect start for Barnet as Harry Smith gave The Bees the lead after just 7 minutes. A mix-up at the back for Notts lead to Smith tapping the ball into an empty net to give Barnet the advantage.

The Bees had some excellent chances in the first half but failed to capitalize on them. Kabamba came close after Kanu put in a cross towards the back post. The forward wouldn’t stretch far enough to tap the ball in.

Kabamba had another chance to double The Bees lead, but his flicked effort went over the bar from close range.

Smith came close to get his second of the game. The ball was put over the Notts defence and fell to the head of Smith, he could only guide the ball into the arms of the keeper.

Laurie Walker also made some fantastic saves throughout to keep Barnet ahead.

Despite Ryan De Havilland being down inside our penalty area for a good period of time, Notts continued their attack and levelled the score through Cedwyn Scott.

The hosts took the lead through Adam Chicksen on 76 minutes. Langstaff made it three on 81 before Jodi Jones added the fourth and final goal in the 87th minute.

The Bees travel back to Torquay United this Saturday for our next National League fixture.
