MATCH REPORT | OLDHAM ATHLETIC 2-0 BARNET FC

The Bees fell to a 2-0 defeat at Boundary Park after Norwood scored two penalties for the home side.

 

Reece Hall-Johnson had the first attempt on target of the game. Ben Coker’s cross found the right-back at the back post before he struck an effort directly at Mathew Hudson in the Oldham goal.

 

Harry Pritchard was given two golden chances in the tenth minute to give The Bees the lead. Both his strikes were well blocked from close range before the home broke onto a counter attack which resulted in a corner.

 

The Bees came close again five minutes later when Jordan Maguire-Drew’s cross found Ben Coker at the back post who unfortunately couldn’t find the target.

 

Pritchard would come close again to giving The Bees the lead but his effort was off target.

 

In the 38th minute Oldham were awarded a penalty which James Norwood converted.

Oldham started the second half with an early chance as Mike Fondop’s header found the gloves of Josh Keeley.

 

The Latics were awarded another penalty which Norwood converted again.

 

At the hour mark Dean Brennan made two changes with Idris Kanu and Callum Stead coming on for Ben Coker and Zak Brunt.

 

Callum Stead almost got a goal back for The Bees when his headed effort inside the Oldham box came crashing off the post.

 

Hartigan then came close when his strike from outside the box went narrowly over the crossbar.

 

Idris Kanu’s cross then found the head of Kabamba who headed over the bar from close range.

 

It would then be Oldham who came close to scoring. A free-kick from 25-yards out struck the post before being cleared away by The Bees defence.

 

Another series of chances would follow for The Bees but nothing would go in for Brennan’s side.

 

Norwood came close to his hat-trick but would be denied by an excellent save from Josh Keeley.

 

The home side would go on and win the game 2-0.
