Derby day delight as 3-0 win vs Wealdstone see’s the bees go top of the national league!
The first chance of the game came to the home side in the 4th minute when midfielder Kallum Cesay won the ball in the
Barnet half, then immediately playing a simple pass to Micah Obiero on the edge of the box but the forwards effort went
well wide of the post not troubling Nick Hayes in the Barnet
goal.

Not much came in way of chances for either side until the 26th minute when Harry Chapman won the ball in the middle of the
park for the bees going on a storming run turning one defender and nutmegging another before he found himself one vs one with the keeper. Unfortunately for the away side his effort was saved by Sam Howes with a strong leg blocking the
shot on goal, keeping the score tied at 0-0.

Barnet kept on the offensive winning a free kick on the right- hand side of the pitch in the 33rd minute. The subsequent free
kick was whipped in the box by captain Anthony Hartigan finding the head of Tavares who beat his defender in the air,
but the effort went well over the crossbar not offering much trouble to the Wealdstone goal.
As the away side continued to try and find an opener the Ben Coker had a ball played down the left-hand side to him in the
36th minute, he continued his run then found a pass to Mark Shelton on the edge of the box whose effort was deflected over
for a corner. From the resulting corner Nik Tavares beat his defender in the air again this time the effort being cleared off
the line by Wealdstone’s Kallum Cesay for another corner.
Just 2 minutes later a goal Kick was played long by goalkeeper Sam Howes right to Tavares who miss heads the ball backwards leading to a duel in the air between Nick Hayes and Micah Obiero, with the Wealdstone player rising higher
heading the ball just wide of the post.

In the 51st minute of the game Wealdstone player Elliot Thorpe played in a low cross from the right leading to a goal mouth
scramble, with Nick Hayes eventually picking up the ball and clearing the danger for Barnet.

Just 8 minutes later in the 59th minute a quick free kick was taken from the right-hand side into Harry Chapman who was
taken down in the box by Kallum Cesay with the referee immediately pointing to the spot, Penalty to Barnet!
In front of the jeering home fans Mark Shelton calmly converted his penalty to the keepers right sending Sam Howes
the wrong way to give the bees a 1-0 lead!
Now in the lead Barnet tried adding onto their advantage, in the 65th minute an in-swinging corner from Ben Coker lead to a
goal mouth scramble till forward Callum Stead poked home the ball from 2 yards out to make the score 2-0 Barnet!
Wealdstone tried to find a way back into the game and came close in doing so as in the 73rd minute a cross from Elliot Thorpe found Callum McFarlane at the back post, his header hitting the post then rebounding back onto Nick Hayes going
out for a corner.
Then to finish off a brilliant day for the bees on his return from injury Nicke Kabamba found space within the box controlling
the ball then placing the shot to the keepers left making the score line 3-0 and sending the away side to the top of the
national league table!
