Rob Milsom’s 14th minute corner found Shola Ameobi at the far post and his looping header was bundled over the line with the help of Brisley but the veteran striker was awarded the goal.
Six minutes after the break, Notts County doubled their lead. The Bees failed to effectively clear a free kick, the ball was whipped back in and Ryan Yates netted.
A late Barnet rally saw substitute Simeon Akinola score with a left-footed shot across goal. In stoppage time, Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro miscued effort fell kindly into the path of Ricardo Santos who was thrown forward, but his volley from 12 yards went over the bar.
Kevin Nolan's playing career had seen him appointed captain at each Premier League club he played for - Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United and West Ham United.
He was appointed as manager of Notts County on 12th January 2017 - his second managerial appointment.
Kevin was previously player-manager of Leyton Orient FC.
He had spent time training with Leyton Orient since leaving West Ham.
At the time of his appointment at Leyton Orient, Kevin became the second youngest manager in the Sky Bet Football League behind Gary Caldwell of Wigan.
A season-long loanee from across the River Trent, Jorge Grant joined County from Forest on the 20th July.
The 23-year-old has featured in 39 games this season, scoring 17 times and assisting on 8 occasions. He had a previous loan spell at Meadow Lane during 16-17, making an immediate impact with 4 goals in his first 6 games.
He started his career in the Nike Academy.

Notts County were knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup midweek following an 8-1 defeat in a Fourth Round replay away to Premier League Swansea City.
Tammy Abraham opened the scoring early and 90 seconds later he set up Nathan Dyer to double their lead.
Dyer added a third before Noor Husin responded for the visitors. Swansea would have a 4-1 lead at the break when Abraham doubled his tally.
Goals from Kyle Naughton, Wayne Routledge, Tom Carroll and Daniel James in the second half made it a record margin of victory for the Welsh side at the Liberty Stadium.
Last time Notts County were in League Two action, they were 4-1 winners over Crewe in front of over 17,000 fans at Meadow Lane.
