SWANSEA CITY 1-1 DEVELOPMENT SQUAD

24 April 2013

The Young Bees secured a point on Wednesday against Premier League opposition

The Development Squad secured an excellent point away at Swansea City on Wednesday afternoon.

The Swans started brightly with Henry Jones firing over the first chance of the match before Kenji Gorre almost got in behind the Bees defence.

Rory Donnelly was next to try his luck but his 25-yard strike flew wide as the Bees began to come into the game.

Shortly after Barnet took the lead when Scott Tancock’s attempted pass cannoned straight into the path of George Sykes who in played in Jamal Lowe to finish from eight-yards.

The Bees almost doubled their lead before the break as Zach Khlaf saw his 30-yard strike tipped over the crossbar.

The home side pushed for an equaliser after the break and with 22 minutes remaining they levelled as Gorre linked with Donnelly and the former fired past Dillon Barnes.

Speaking post-match Kenny Brown praised his side who have come through two away matches in quick succession:

“Jamal Lowe got the goal but all the boys played really well. We went a goal up and took that lead into the break. Swansea hit back and both sides had chances but I think in the end it was a fair result.

“We had four or five players that played on Monday and they didn’t get back until 2am and we left at 7am this morning. Their energy levels were fantastic and so was there attitude.

“I am really pleased for the boys. They were a credit to the football club.”
