BOARDMAN OUT FOR SEASON

25 January 2013

Victoria Boardman will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury

Central midfielder Victoria Boardman has been ruled out for the rest of the season following an ankle injury.

Boardman, who joined the club from Millwall Lionesses in 2010, has ruptured both her ATF and CFL ligaments.

The dynamic midfielder has made over 50 appearances for the Bees and is their current top scorer this season with five.

She was also part of the side who won the Premier League Cup in 2011, converting from the spot in the penalty shootout.

Boardman was understandably disappointed confirming she must undergo surgery which will take place on Monday.

“Unfortunately the injury is a bad one and I will undergo surgery to repair the damage on Monday.

“Fortunately I am being operated on by the best ankle specialist in Europe, Mr James Calder, so thankfully I am in good hands.”

She continued by expressing her gratitude to all those who have offered their support.

“I would like to thank all of the Barnet fans and staff for their messages, it is truly appreciated.

Manager Tracey Kevins also wished Boardman well: “Everyone at Barnet FC Ladies wishes Vic a speedy recovery.

Director Graham Slyper, who is responsible for the Ladies side, endorsed these good wishes and confirmed that Boardman will be undertaking her rehab at The Hive.
