HARRY CRAWFORD - THE FIRST INTERVIEW

24 January 2013

Harry Crawford speaks exclusively to barnetfc.com after his move from Dartford

Harry Crawford was unable to wipe the smile off his face after penning a three-year deal with Barnet Football Club.

The forward, who began his career with Southend United, has forged a name for himself this season by scoring 12 goals for Dartford in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Speaking exclusively to barnetfc.com, Crawford was unable to contain his excitement stating that he cannot wait to get going.

“I am over the moon after joining Barnet Football Club and I am really excited about what the rest of the season and beyond will bring.

“The club are moving in the right direction and they will continue to do so with the excellent facilities they have here at The Hive.”

The forward also hopes that he can make an immediate impact after an impressive first-half of the season with Dartford.

“I have scored a few goals in the Conference Premier for Dartford this year so hopefully I can come in and hit the ground running.

“I cannot wait to get started and I think that I will be able to take a lot from my time with Dartford that will help me progress with Barnet.”

Prior to joining the Darts, the 21-year-old played for Southend and he believes that having League Two experience will stand him in good stead.

“I have played in this league before with Southend United so that will definitely help me as all my experience within football will.

“Like I said the club are moving forward and I am very excited to be a part of that so I cannot wait to get going.”

Forward Ricky Holmes, who is a self-confessed Southend United fan, hopes that Crawford can have a big impact for the Bees.

“I hope he can come in and score a lot of goals because it is something we cry out for and I do not think we have a proven goalscorer.

“Jake Hyde is brilliant in the air and the box but we need a poacher who can feed off scraps so I think him and Jake could work well together.”

Crawford has set the Conference Premier alight this season and Holmes believes that if he can reach the same heights with Barnet then he will play a key role in the club’s survival bid.

“I was at Southend United as a kid so I was not there at the same time as Harry but from what I have seen he is good on the ball and he knows where the goal is.

“If he can perform how he has for Dartford and bring double figures to us before the end of the season then he is going to be brilliant for us.”
