The opposition

• In the 1980s, the club was mentioned in an advert for milk. The sketch showed two young Liverpool fans discussing the importance of drinking milk; otherwise you would end up playing for Accrington Stanley... Who are they? EXACTLY!

• Manage Leam Richardson began his playing career with Blackburn Rovers although he did not make a first-team appearance. He went onto play for Bolton Wanderers, Notts County (loan), Blackpool and Accrington Stanley.

• Following John Coleman’s departure he was named as caretaker manager before Paul Cook’s appointment. Cook left to become manager of Chesterfield in October 2012 and Richardson became caretaker boss once more before being given a permanent deal in November 2012.
