WALK THE 92 - UNDERHILL

13 March 2013

Scott Mclachlan visited Underhill as part of Walk The 92

Scott Mclachlan visited Underhill last week as part of his mission to walk to all 92 Premier League and Football League clubs to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

Scott has already walked over 2000 miles of the 2500 mile challenge which started in Portsmouth last August and is due to finish in Brighton in April.

Prostate Cancer UK is also the Football Leagues leading charity for the 2012/13 season with more than 65,000 fans, clubs, chief executives and Football League staff voting for it to be so.

Scott chose the charity before the Football League and has raised £5,200 so far which is well on the way to reaching his target total of £9000.

“”I have not been affected by prostate cancer but I chose to the charity because it had not had a lot of exposure before the last couple of years.

“I picked it up and the Football League followed which has really helped me out because a lot of clubs know what I am trying to do and been very accommodating.

“I have raised £5,200 and I am hoping to add another thousand to that by the time I leave London in four-weeks time. The ultimate target is £9000 and to ensure I reach it I will be doing some post-walk fundraising and releasing a book.”

Scott did however admit that after six months of walking he was looking forward to putting his feet up.

“I started in Portsmouth on August 19 which was the start of the 2012/13 season and after an injury which delayed me I have been walking solidly since September last year.

“I am now into the last leg which takes me through London. I have done the north and east London clubs and I am working my way west towards Oxford United, Reading and Aldershot.

I will then go back into south-west London starting at Brentford before finishing on April 6 at Brighton & Hove Albion.”

He added: “Absolutely (looking forward to finishing), I am desperate to finish it is really hard work and I am very bored of walking but it is for a good cause and there is only 400 miles to go!

“I have done approximately 2000 part of miles which has seen me walk from Watford to Arsenal today and now Underhill before heading back to Vicarage Road and walking out to Wycombe.”

Everybody at Barnet Football Club would like to wish Scott the best of luck as he enters the final stages of his challenge.
