Edgar Davids is pleased with the way in which his side is performing.
Edgar Davids was pleased with his side following their 1-0 win against high-flying Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday.
The win ensured that the Bees remain unbeaten since the 24th of September as they head into Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Sky Bet League One side Preston North End.
Speaking post-match Davids praised the team and stated that they’re well on track to push on at the right time.
“I’m really pleased with the three points and I’m pleased that even though we didn’t play to one hundred per cent we got the win.
“It is always important [to beat the teams around you]. You have to win to stay on track and at the right moment you have to accelerate but I don’t think we need to just yet.”
The win also sealed the Bees’ third consecutive clean sheet and although Davids believes they’re not vital he has been pleased with the way his defence is performing.
“A clean sheet doesn’t mean everything because if you win without a clean sheet it is not a problem, but sometimes if you don’t keep a clean sheet it can be the difference.
“I’m not fixated on clean sheets but I’m happy that throughout the season teams have not created a lot of chances against us. They have scored a lot of miracle goals but when we’re switched on we’re a difficult team to beat.”
Despite a difficult September the Bees bounced back going unbeaten in October and Davids insists that belief within the squad never dwindled.
“I think the confidence in the team is always high when you win but from the start we have believed in the system and the squad we have.
“Sometimes you play well and you get the points and sometimes you don’t and you do, that is football but we always believe.”
Elliot Johnson returned to the bench on Saturday and Davids states the Bees will only get better as more key players return.
“If you have a strong squad everyone can chip in and contribute to a performance.
“Competitiveness also helps a team develop, not just on a Saturday but during the week in training.”
