Newman Becomes Academy Manager

15 July 2014

Henry Newman returns to Barnet to take over Academy

Barnet FC are pleased to announce a restructuring of their Academy staff that will see Henry Newman return to take over as Academy Manager ahead of the forthcoming season.

Henry is a UEFA A-Licensed coach who worked at Barnet as the Assistant Under-18s Coach between 2009 and 2011 when the Academy first began.

After leaving to take up senior coaching positions at both Charlton Athletic and Brentford where he enjoyed much success, the 24-year-old coach has decided to return to where he first started.

Henry will be the youngest academy manager in the country, and will be responsible for overseeing Barnet’s entire programme of youth development, from under-8 level right through to under-18s.

Commenting on his appointment, Henry said:

“I am delighted to be taking up this role and am looking forward to both continuing the good work of the past as well as building for the future. My aim is to make the Academy sustainable by producing as many players that will be capable of going on to represent the first team as possible.”

Henry will be assisted by both Ross Eames as Lead Professional Development Phase Coach and Adam Lewis as Head of Coaching, both of whom will be taking on new roles following the restructure.

Ross has already spent four years with the club during which time he has enjoyed great success as an under-16s coach, and will now be in charge of Barnet FC’s under-18 team alongside Academy manager Henry Newman.

Adam Lewis has spent five years with the Barnet Academy since it opened, and has worked most recently as Lead Youth Development Phase Coach. He will now be responsible for overseeing the entire coaching programme of the Barnet FC Academy, from under-8 level all the way through to under-16s.

His role will involve mentoring both the full and part-time coaching staff at the club, providing a coaching education and working across all age groups to ensure that the Academy playing philosophy is implemented throughout.
