Bees Sign Bradley & Muggleton As Duo Become Player/Coaches

16 May 2014

Barnet Sign Dan Bradley & Sam Muggleton as Jon Nurse and Graham Stack become player/coaches.

Barnet Football Club are pleased to announce the signings of Dan Bradley from Alfreton Town and Sam Muggleton on a free transfer.

The club can also reveal that Jon Nurse has agreed a new one-year deal at The Hive to become player/coach for the 2014/15 season.

Goalkeeper Graham Stack will also become a player/coach for the campaign ahead and head-coach Martin Allen shared his thoughts on a busy week for the club.

“It has been a busy week and I can confirm that we have signed Dan Bradley from Alfreton Town and Sam Muggleton on a free transfer.

“We have also agreed a one-year contract with Jon Nurse for him to join as player/coach for the season ahead.”

Allen continued by talking in depth about the Bees’ new recruits.

“Dan Bradley is an attacking right-sided midfield player who I saw play for Alfreton versus Grimsby and he immediately caught my eye with his pace and athletic ability.

“I have met him and I like him and over the past couple of years several clubs have been chasing his signature so I think he will be good for us.

“For me it was a no brainer to sign Sam Muggleton,” explained Allen. “He is an 18-year-old on a free transfer and he still has room to develop physically and technically and he has such an amazing long throw.

“On TV last night Rotherham used their long throw to good effect and they are now going to Wembley with the chance of going to the Championship so I think it is a good signing for us.”

The head-coach also announced that Nurse and Stack will become player/coaches for the new campaign.

“I have been in discussions with the Chairman and Andrew Adie regarding the budget for staff and players and it is vital we make the best of what we have and utilise everyone’s skills to get the best players and staff combined.

“Therefore, Graham Stack and Jon Nurse will both be player/coaches for the season ahead.”

Allen continued: “Jon Nurse has UEFA B qualifications but what is probably more important in my mind is that he has won two promotions.

“He is a very popular person and an excellent people person with similar skills that will help all our players to the legend Guiliano Grazioli.

“I don’t expect him to play every week and hopefully, if I get it right, never, which he fully understands.”

Allen also praised Stack who can use his vast experience to help the team in the upcoming campaign.

“Graham Stack has vast experience, knowledge and opinion and I would be mad not to use that experience for the season ahead.

“He has helped me from day one, he is a top goalkeeper and he is good in the dressing room.

“First and foremost he has been reminded to concentrate on his job as a keeper but he will most definitely contribute to our overall planning and management of the players throughout the season.”

Allen added: “We are very close on other good players and I am hoping to get things tied up early next week which will hopefully give us a chance to challenge.”
