Barnet Foster Group enjoy a trip to The Hive to watch the Bees triumph over AFC Telford.Barnet’s Fostering Service teamed up with Barnet FC on Saturday to share a love of football and promote local fostering.
The Hive Community Trust hosted local children in care and their foster families on Saturday to witness Barnet’s entertaining 3-1 win over AFC Telford United that sent the Bees eight points clear at the top of the Vanarama Conference.
The opportunity to visit a local football team was a new experience for some of the foster children who went along, and with the added bonus of the chance to meet the official Barnet mascot Mr Bumble, a great day was had by all.
Speaking after the game, Joshua, aged 8, said:
“I was really excited as I’d never been to a proper football match before. It was good to see Barnet win too.”
Meanwhile, Steven Barron, Head of The Hive Community Trust, commented:
“It was great to have Barnet Foster Group down to raise further awareness of the excellent work that they are doing within our community.
“We hope to continue working together in the future and build on an excellent relationship we already have with them. The day was very successful and enjoyable for all involved.”
Barnet’s Fostering Service is currently working with a range of community partners to raise awareness of the vital need for foster carers. Finding new carers in Barnet is crucial to ensure local children in care can continue to attend their local school, have contact with their birth family and maintain a stable routine.
Can you provide a foster child with a secure and caring home environment?
If you want more information, Barnet’s Fostering Service would love to hear from you. There’s no such thing as a typical foster carer – single people or couples can foster, with or without children of their own and carers can be heterosexual, lesbian or gay.
