Hoskins: "It is a good club to be at"

Young striker excited about loan spell after hitting the ground running.

New arrival Sam Hoskins made an instant impact at The Hive on Saturday, scoring within a minute of coming on for John Akinde in his first game for Barnet.

Reflecting on the game, the 21-year-old striker admitted that his debut could not have gone much better and said that he is looking forward to hopefully continuing in the same vein during the rest of his loan spell:

“Scoring with my first touch was probably the best start I could have had, but I think the overall team performance was the most important thing. It was a convincing 5-0 win at home and it is good to be at a club that is obviously on the up.

“As a striker you always want to be in a team that is going to create chances, and as you saw on Saturday I should have had another one myself so we are creating a lot of opportunities.

“It is clearly a very good team. In training this morning everybody was flying so it is definitely a good club to be at.”

Despite only arriving at the club on the day of the game having signed on loan from Yeovil Town on Friday evening, the young striker says that he is already settling in well at The Hive

“It was Friday morning when the manager at Yeovil said that this was a possibility, and luckily it all went through on Friday evening so I came up in time for the game on Saturday.

“I’ve heard good things about Martin. I know that he has had success before, particularly at Barnet, so he is a good manager to work for.

“All the lads have been decent. It is a good club to be at and I’m settling in well with the lads, although it does help when you come on and score a goal and show what you can do!”

Hoskins has already enjoyed loan spells at both Rotherham and Stevenage to date, and believes that those spells will be invaluable in helping him to find his feet with the Bees as he looks to enter the next phase of his career:

“It is good experience going into new clubs and learning different ways to play, it makes you better as a player. It’s always a good experience to be out on loan and hopefully this will be a successful period for me.”

“The competition at Yeovil is very high and there are a few good strikers there so chances have been hard to come by. This move will definitely be good for me if I can get myself in the team, play well, score some goals and push on from there.”
