Martin: "It'll be a tough challenge"

31 August 2015

The Bees manager looks back on our draw with Cambridge United, and discusses the trip to Yeovil Town on Tuesday.

Barnet manager Martin Allen spoke to barnetfc.com ahead of training this morning.

Reflecting on the performance against Cambridge, Martin said:

“I think everyone was pleased with the performance on Saturday.

“I suppose there’s a tinge of disappointment that we didn’t win the game.

“I think afterwards there was a feeling that we’ve got to keep playing well, keep up our high standards and our self-belief.

“It’s another point on the board and another clean sheet.

“I’m sure that soon some of those chances will start going in.”

Looking ahead to the trip to Yeovil on Tuesday, the Bees manager said:

“Some of the players that didn’t play on Saturday will play against Yeovil.

“Obviously we’ll meet the selection criteria for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, but it will give me a chance to look at some of the younger lads as well.

“We’ve had some injuries recently, and it’s vitally important that we get those injuries cleared up.

“So those that have had knocks; Yiadom, Togwell and Gash, they definitely won’t be playing.

“Paul Sturrock is a good friend of mine and he’s had loads of promotions.

“He’s started with a totally new squad this year.

“They’ve got 25 players, so it’s a big squad that they’ve got down there.

“Paul always puts together effective, good teams.

“He’s done it at Southend, he’s done it everywhere he’s been.

“It’ll be a tough challenge, as every game we play is.”
