Sam Togwell excited for the season run-in ahead of Wrexham trip.Sam Togwell says that spirits around the camp are high as Barnet head to Wrexham looking to maintain their lead at the top of the Vanarama Conference.
Speaking after training on Thursday the Bees’ midfielder said that it had been an enjoyable week following victory over Woking last time out and that now the players were fully focused on a tough challenge against the Dragons:
“It’s been good. A win at the weekend always makes it a good week’s training. It has been sharp and it has been competitive but with quality.
“It will be a tough game, they are a good team. It is a big pitch so we are going to go there and try and express ourselves but hopefully get a good result and move on forward.”
On a personal note, Togwell says that he is enjoying his football at The Hive and feels that he struck up a good understanding with midfield partner Curtis Weston over the course of the season, and is now relishing the added competition that has arrived in the shape of Conor Clifford:
“Personally I feel that I am kicking on and I’m pleased with how I’m playing. The team is playing well and that helps me as well.
“Curtis and I know each other’s games and we’ve got a good understanding. When I go forward he sits and vice versa, and I think our results have coincided with us playing well.
“Conor did well on Saturday. He went out on the right and brought some energy and an added spark to the team and he is a good player.”
With just thirteen games of the season left Togwell is now targeting back-to-back promotions having gone up from League Two with Chesterfield last season, and is looking forward to what the coming months have in store for the Bees:
“I was fortunate enough to have a promotion last year. It is a great feeling and the fans really get behind you. When the team is playing well the fans really turn out in force and make some noise and it is a great feeling to be around Barnet at the moment.”
