Martin: "This team gives everything that they’ve got"

3 September 2015

Martin Allen looks ahead to the Bees long trip to Carlisle.

Barnet manager Martin Allen spoke to barnetfc.com this morning, ahead of the team’s trip to Carlisle United on Saturday.

Reflecting on the Yeovil Town match midweek, Martin said:

“We learnt a lot from the Yeovil game, there’s no doubt about that.

“I don’t think that it was a great game to watch.

“I thought we did ok but nothing special – we didn’t really create much.

“We didn’t give away much either, and lost the game to a fluky goal.

“But the last league game we played against Cambridge was a good performance.

“We weren’t able to get the goals that we deserved.

“The focus on the training pitch has to be on working with the team from last Saturday – trying to work on the things that we need to improve for this weekend’s game.

Looking ahead to the Carlisle match, Martin revealed that he is expecting a tough challenge:

“Keith Curle is a good manager, and he’s changed things around at Carlisle,” he said.

“He’s brought in some really good players.

“As I probably say every week, it’ll be a difficult game.

“We’ve got to keep our concentration and keep our focus.

“Every game is a difficult match, there’s no doubt about it.

“There’s not one game where you can say that it’s an easy day out.”

The Bees manager also had an injury update for Barnet fans, ahead of the weekend:

“Yiadom is almost definitely fit,” he said.

“We’ll have to test Elliott Johnson on Friday because he had a twinge in his hamstring.

“Sam Togwell just needed to rest his shin so he’ll be fine.

“Michael Gash had a tight calf in the middle of last week and that needed to be rested.

“I’m expecting all of them to be fit.

Finally, Martin acknowledged the long journey that Barnet supporters would have to make in order to get to Carlisle on Saturday:

“I wouldn’t expect too many of our supporters to make that journey, that’s for sure,” he said.

“The 2pm kick off doesn’t help our fans one little bit!

“If you can make it, great.

“If you can’t make it, I think everybody knows that this team gives everything that they’ve got.

“We’ll be doing our utmost to bring three valuable points back to London.”
