The French striker joins the Bees on a permanent basis...Barnet FC are pleased to announce that Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro has joined the club on a permanent basis, following an extended trial at The Hive.
The Toulouse-born striker initially linked up with Martin Allen's squad in July, following two successful seasons at League One side Shrewsbury Town.
Akpa-Akpro helped the Shrews to promotion from the fourth tier in 2014-15, before avoiding relegation back to League Two last season.
He scored a total of 16 goals in 50 starts for Town, making a further 45 appearances from the bench.
The 31-year-old started his career at Toulouse FC – playing 40 times and receiving a call-up to the France Under 18 squad.
He went on loan to Stade Brestois 29 and enjoyed a short stint at Belgian club FC Brussels, before arriving in England in 2008.
Eight goals in 60 games for Grimsby Town earned the forward a move to League One Rochdale in 2010. The Dale achieved a 9th place finish while Akpa-Akpro was at the club.
Spells with Bury (on loan) and Tranmere Rovers followed his exit from Spotland, prior the striker’s arrival at the New Meadow in July 2014.
Everyone at the club would like to wish Jean-Louis the best of luck while he is with Barnet and are delighted to see him sign a contract with the Bees!
