Rossi Eames and Henry Newman reflect on Barnet's 3-2 friendly win at Hemel Hempstead Town...

Rossi Eames and Henry Newman felt Tuesday's 3-2 friendly win at Hemel Hempstead Town was a good workout for a Barnet side containing a handful of senior players.

The interim management duo watched at Vauxhall Road as Dean Selvey led  a side containing a mix of senior players and youngsters.

Justin Amaluzor (2) and a trialist scored for the Bees who won two penalties against the National League South side.

"It was a good workout for the players," Newman said. "For the first 60-65 minutes it was a good, solid performance but it got a bit bitty after we made a couple of changes.

"For the last 20 minutes or so we were protecting one or two players who will be in the squad against Cheltenham Town on Boxing Day.

"It was a pleasing workout and we took the game to give players who haven't started a game for the first team under us yet and some younger players and opportunity to show what they could do against a good Conference South side and they certainly did that."

The team included Josh Vickers, Alie Sesay, Sam Muggleton, Harry Taylor and Nana Kyei all starting. And interim manager Eames was pleased with the performance of the more experienced heads in the side.

"There were very professional and played well," he said. "Josh Vickers made a number of saves which is his job, but the way he went about his whole game was excellent.

"Alie Sesay and Sam Muggleton both had good, strong games - Sam especially.

"There were Under-21s, and a couple of scholars in there as well, getting more senior minutes under their belts which they need."

Barnet: Vickers; Day, H. Taylor, Sesay, Hernandez; Kyei, Fonguck, Cojocarel, Muggleton; Amaluzor, Trialist.
