Stephens - "Keep supporting us and pushing us through.”

18 April 2017

“Incredibly disappointed” is how Jamie Stephens described his feelings immediately after yesterdays defeat against Wycombe Wanderers.

In a game where Stephens had little to do, it was a moment of individual brilliance that initially beat the Keeper, in a first half where the Bees were never really out-played.

“I’m in the right position when we’ve got the ball. But as soon as we lose it, he’s hit it before I can even move and it’s done me.
It’s one of them that comes out of nowhere and we’re 1-0 down, chasing the game from there.”

Jamie felt his side more then matched Wycombe over the 90 minutes and was surprised to see the referee blow for a penalty with Barnet pushing for an equaliser.

“For me it’s not a penalty. But I’m not the ref, you’ll have to ask him. I felt it was soft, but that’s his decision and I can’t change that.”

The shot stopper admitted it had been a tough weekend for the team, losing their Coach, and losing two games, but believes the squad can re-group quickly.

“We’re really deflated. But we’ve got the right personnel to build back up. Rossi is a top guy, manager, coach. He knows how to look after the lads.
We have to keep going. Try and get something from the rest of the season for the fans. We’re more disappointed then they are right now.”

Stephens and his team mates are now focused on turning results around, and getting back to winning ways.

“We have to keep preparing, keep doing the right things, keep as positive as we can and keep trying to push on.
We need to stand up and be counted. It’s horrible going out and losing.
There’s three games left and we want to win all three.”

Stephens ended by calling to the fans for their continued support right to the end of the season.

“It must be annoying for the fans and I do feel for them. It’s been so hard recently.
I hope they can see the way we’re trying to play. I do think they appreciate we’re trying to play in the right areas.
We really need them to stay behind us, It really does help.
Please keep supporting us and keep pushing us through.”
