A look back at how Barnet players who are away on-loan performed over the past seven days.
Kai McKenzie-Lyle is still the only Bee out on-loan, currently at St Ives Town in the Evo Stik Southern League.
In the first of two home games for the Saints, they slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Biggleswade Town on Tuesday night. The Guyana international conceded early on but soon grew into the game, producing important saves to keep his side in the game.
St Ives pulled a goal back in the 70th minute before a clash between Kai and his defender led to an own goal which wrapped up the game.
Next up was the visit of Kings Langley which ended in a 1-1 draw. Langley took the lead on the half hour mark and it took St Ives until the 70th minute to tie the game.
Manager Ricky Marheineke was pleased with Kai’s response to Tuesday’s disappointing result.
“He had to make a couple of saves early on and just before half time had to come out and face a 1v1. He made himself big and forced the player into putting his shot wide.
“He didn’t have much to do in the second half as we chased the game. However, his kicking into a strong head wind was excellent.”
Kai has so far featured in every minute of St Ives season and Barnet FC Head of Goalkeeping Matt Doyle is happy with how the young shot stopper is progressing.
“I’m pleased from the feedback I’m receiving from Ricky and from what I have seen, having watched him on Tuesday.
“This is why we sent him there, he’s had a busy games schedule and he has dealt with the ups and downs that have been thrown at him so far.
“He’s in a good place at the moment and is enjoying the loan, and I’m excited to see how he continues at St Ives.”
