The Bees’ boss gives his reaction to the victory over the Shrimps…
Interim Head Coach Ross Eames was full of praise for his Barnet side, in the wake of their 1-0 win against Morecambe.
Speaking after the match, Ross said:
“It was very professional and an excellent Barnet display.
“In recent weeks we haven’t really been at it and haven’t competed enough – tonight that wasn’t the case.
“I said to the boys that the way they defended resolutely was excellent, as was the team spirit, the shape and the camaraderie between them.
“We see it on the training ground all the time, but the main thing is out on the pitch.
“The key message at half time was that there is only one stat that matters, and that’s the one in the top left corner of the TV!
“I said that it had to be a result for the away team tonight – fair play to them, they had to be very patient and they did really well this evening.
“I was impressed by the performance out of possession; I liked the fight and the desire.
“You can have all the possession in the world, but if you don’t put the ball in the net then it doesn’t mean anything.
“But credit to the players, it was excellent the way that they kept the ball today.
“All the men on the pitch and the substitutes played their part.
“The players who didn’t get on the pitch also played their part on the way up here, so we’re all working together.
“The team chose to run hard tonight and there was some very nice football, but there are still things that we can improve and work on.
“We’ll be back in on Thursday now, ahead of our next game against Portsmouth.”
Ross was also grateful to the Bees’ fans who made the long midweek trip to Lancashire, saying:
“They were fantastic – we really appreciate it.
“I think it’s 267 miles away on a Tuesday night, so I salute them for their dedication.”
