The Bees 2017/18 pre-season campaign gets underway tomorrow when we travel to the Gallagher Stadium to take on Maidstone United.
The National League outfit finished 14th place last campaign. They picked up 58 points with 16 wins, 10 draws and 20 defeats in their first season back in the fifth tier of English football.
The Stones have fought their way back through the league system following the collapse of the original side. The first Maidstone United won promotion to the Football League in 1989 – two years prior to Barnet FC - but had to resign from the competition before dissolving in 1992 due to serious money problems.
Bees midfielder Dan Sweeney will be returning back to Maidstone for the first time since leaving the Kent side to join Barnet last Christmas. Sweeney scored the winning penalty for Maidstone in the National League South play-off final and earned a call up to the England C team managed by Paul Fairclough during his time there.
This will be the first game under Rossi Eames’ since he became the head coach on a permanent basis. We will hear more from Eames ahead of tomorrow’s fixture later on this afternoon.
Elsewhere, a Barnet Under 18 elite development squad will be travelling to Edgware Town with kick off at 3pm. Our youth team will be at home to AFC Hornchurch in the morning and a Under 17 elite development squad at home to Kinetic in the afternoon.
