Curtis Weston made an instant impact after coming on against Cheltenham and the midfielder was happy to play his part as he continues to recover from a groin injury.
“I was meant to be out for 6-8 weeks, but I’m trying to get back a bit early - I’m still half fit to be honest.”
“Saturday I was happy to get on, get a bit of playing time and do well for the team.”
“I wasn’t expecting to come on or even be on the bench until quite late.
It’s early for me to get back. I’m still working on recovering properly, but happy to get on and do well.”
Curtis’ goal inspired the Bees’ comeback and he was delighted to see his volley fly into the Cheltenham net just when Barnet needed it most.
“I was happy to come on and get a goal pretty quickly.”
“It was a good move down the left with Jamal putting a good ball in.
Credit to Simeon, a great set from him. I’ve volleyed it and it’s gone in.”
“I hit it sweet enough and sometimes when you hit them like that you know they’re going in.”
Saturday’s result has helped the Bees rediscover their confidence, and Curtis is keen to be involved against Stevenage in whatever role Kevin Nugent wants him to play.
“Everyone’s ready to go for Stevenage. I’m hoping to be involved. It’ll probably be a late call. I’m available and ready to go if needed.”
Curtis admitted it’s been tough being out of action, but the midfielder is delighted to be on the road to recovery.
“I never want to be out. I always want to play every game. To be injured is one of my worst nightmares. I was happy when I was asked to be involved on Saturday.”
“And against Stevenage, If I need to play as I am now, I’m available for the team.”
