Darnell Smith has joined Hungerford Town on an initial 28-day loan and played the full 90 minutes on Saturday in a 1-0 loss away to Wealdstone in the National League South.
The only goal of the game came in the last minute when Wealdstone we awarded a penalty after Ian Hemming’s foul on Abo Eisa. Eisa took the penalty and scored, meaning Smith couldn’t get a clean sheet on his debut for the club.
However, despite this, it was a good performance by not only Smith but the side as a whole, especially against a side who are now unbeaten in eight league matches. Hungerford sit 17th in the table, while The Stones are up to 10th.
Elsewhere, Tom Day played 45 minutes as his Hemel Hempstead Town side drew 1-1 away at Havant & Waterlooville also in the National League South on Saturday.
The Hawks went 1-0 up just before the break when Ryan Woodford tucked home after his initial header hit the bar. Day was then subbed off at half-time, providing a tactical reshuffle at the back,
Hemel got their equaliser when Jordan Parkes converted from the penalty spot with seven minutes left to play.
The draw sees both Hemel and Havant drop to fifth and sixth respectively in the National League South table.
Dan Sweeney didn’t feature as his Hampton and Richmond Borough side beat Bognor Regis Town 2-1 away from home to make it five on the bounce, putting them up to eighth.
