A great strike from Alex Nicholls gave the Bees a vital win on the road at Morecambe, taking the battle for League Two survival to the final day.
From the start, there only ever looked like their would be one winner.
Barnet’s first clear chance came 6 minutes in. Brindley delivered a free kick which Ricardo Santos connected with, but his flick on went just wide of the near post.
Four minutes later, Brindley fizzed a low shot wide of the far post from the edge of the box.
Coulthirst was the next to try his luck, bringing the ball forward to the edge of the box before firing over the crossbar.
Brindley delivered a dangerous cross in the 27th minute which Roche cut out just before it reached the head of Akinde.
Just after the half hour mark, Simeon Akinola was stretchered off and replaced by Alex Nicholls.
Lavelle had a chance for Morecambe from a free kick but he hit his effort behind.
After the break, Sweeney played through Nicholls but Roche was quick off of his line to beat the Barnet man to it.
Akinde had an effort well saved when it was destined to nestle in the top right corner.
Dan Sweeney then hit the side netting, flicking on Richard Brindley’s corner before Nicholls had an effort well saved.
A combination of Akpa Akpro and Santos header over a corner before Brindley fried a free kick which was saved low to Roche’s right.
A rare chance for Morecambe came and went when Kenyon shot well over the bar from 25 yards out.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 79th minute when Alex Nicholls excellently powered the ball home on the volley from Akpa Akpro’s knock down.
The Bees then had the chance to double their lead when Akinde went one-on-one with Roche but the Morecambe ‘keeper pulled off a good save and Jack Taylor couldn’t quite convert the loose ball.
The Bees then played down the clock to earn a more than deserved three points and keep their battle for survival alive until the final day.
