Mauro Vilhete made his first appearance of the season on Saturday, coming off of the bench to score the second goal and seal the win over Dover Athletic.

"It was good to finally be back on the pitch, enjoying my football again and most importantly we won, so I’m very pleased."

Vilhete was a late addition to the bench after Craig Robson was forced to step out of the warm up, but this didn't faze the Bees number 20.

"I wasn’t expecting it, I was stood outside watching them train and get warmed up for the game when I got the nod.

"I had to get my head right and get myself ready to help out if I was called upon.

"The first half was a little bit shaky but in the second half we’ve come out and done very well and got the win we deserved."

The roof was almost lifted off of The Hive with the reception he received when stepping onto the field in the 68th minute, let alone when he found the back of the net in stoppage time, something that certainly means a lot to the Academy graduate.

"It means everything, I’ve been waiting 8 and a bit months to get back on the pitch.

"It’s nice to see the fans supporting me and I managed to get a goal for them as well."

With games coming thick and fast over the Festive period, Vilhete will be hoping the group can build on this win.

"It’s one game, we have just got to take it game by game and hopefully this will be the first of many wins."
