Transfer | Callum Reynolds signs for Barnet FC

22 June 2018

A former captain with several seasons experience in the National League, that is what Callum Reynolds will bring to our back line having signed a two-year deal with Barnet.

Reynolds has most recently played for Aldershot Town, making 90 appearances in two seasons for the Hampshire club, many of which as skipper, having joined from Boreham Wood in July 2016.

He had led Boreham Wood to promotion to the National League in 2015 and made 183 appearances in just over four seasons at Meadow Park.

Born in Luton, Reynolds began his career at Rushden and Diamonds, and moved to the Portsmouth Academy in 2007. Whilst at Fratton Park, he enjoyed loan spells at both Luton and Basingstoke Town, the latter being made permanent upon his release by Portsmouth in 2010.

After one season with Basingstoke, Reynolds joined Conference side Tamworth, and from there spent further time out on loan, with Corby Town and Boreham Wood. That move was also made permanent in the summer of 2012, as Reynolds made himself a mainstay in the Wood team.

Speaking about his arrival at The Hive, the 28-year-old was clearly delighted to be a Bee!

"I'm extremely happy! It was a crazy week or so before I was on holiday, I had a few phone calls and I'm really happy to get the deal done and I'm looking forward to playing for the club and working with John Still too.

"His reputation speaks for itself. He's won the league three times and what more can you say! He's the most successful manager in the league, experienced and also used to be a defender which is key for me, I want to learn from him and that definitely had a big influence."

Manager John Still is happy to welcome such a proven player in the National League.

"Callum has been outstanding at this level for last couple of years at Aldershot. I’ve watched a lot of him, he’s a good player with great leadership qualities.

"He has all the knowledge needed, has a great deal of experience at this level and has been in the play offs for the last two seasons. He is a great addition for Barnet.

"With Callum and Craig Robson both arriving and Ricardo Santos and Dan Sweeney already here, we now have a lot of strength in those central areas, especially when you consider Craig and Dan can both play in midfield as well."
