The Young Bees progressed through to the Second Round of the FA Youth Cup last night following a 1-0 win over a spirited Peterborough Sports side.
Dan Senda's side made the perfect start as they took the lead within just 9 minutes.
Martyn Box chased what looked like a lost cause down the left, kept the ball in play before bringing it into the area. The defender's clearance bounced off of Box and fell kindly into the path of Dimeji Adeniran who could make no mistake from close range, firing past Dylan Veni.
The hosts then fought back, Andy Irvine proved a constant threat and was set through on goal but Aymen Azaze was out quickly to nullify any threat.
Alfie Ferguson was the latest to test Azaze in the Barnet goal but his sensational half-volley from 25-yards struck the crossbar.
The game was a tight affair, with both teams cancelling each other out well.
After the break, goalscorer Adeniran crossed in to Rio Connell at the far post. The winger then headed it down to Antonis Vasiliou but his drive was saved by Veni.
Connell would later playthrough Vasiliou for a second time, but again Veni was equal to what was thrown his way.
Substitute Ethan Atkins lined up a shot from range as time ran out for the hosts, but his shot sailed over Azaze's crossbar.
The Bees ground out the win and will now face a trip to the Kassam Stadium to face Oxford United in the Second Round.
Head Coach Dan Senda was happy with the commitment levels shown by his side, tweeting "A great game tonight for the #YoungBees to develop & show the characteristic they will most definitely need to pursue a professional football career, really pleasing to watch."
