Match Pack: Aldershot Town 0-0 Barnet

28 December 2019

Barnet settle for a point at Aldershot as they play out a 0-0 draw with Danny Searle's side.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bees started strongly at The Ebb Stadium and passed up a couple of opportunities to open the scoring within 8 minutes of kick-off.

Jack Taylor at the heart of both opportunities, he teed up James Dunne at the edge of the box, but the latter's shot was deflected just wide of the post before he floated one just the wrong side of the far stick himself.

Harry Taylor was next to go close but his glanced header from a whipped David Tutonda cross scraped the far post, before Dean Rance smashed well high of Scott Loach's goal moments later - the hosts' first sight of goal.

The Bees best chance of the half came just before half-time as Cheye Alexander put a wonderful cross into the middle of the box. Simeon Akinola got up so well to meet it but could only direct his header straight at Mitch Walker from close-range.

Barnet's dominance continued into the second half and Darren Currie's side were again unlucky not to go ahead early on. Tutonda smashed an effort goalwards which Walker saved well, however it rebounded off Kodi Lyons-Foster and unfortunately for the Bees, the deflection dropped just the wrong side of the post.

Callum Reynolds then rose highest from a corner kick and headed wide of the far post - a golden opportunity to open the scoring.

The hosts weren't without their chances in the second period, however, as Ethan Chislett's delicate chip from a tight angle pinged off the crossbar before former Bees forward, Mo Bettamer, directed goalwards following a corner kick, but the Bees defensive line hacked well clear as the game headed into the final 20.

Chislett found space once again inside the Barnet box and H Taylor did brilliantly well to throw his body in the way and relieve the danger before some Scott Loach heroics denied Chislett for a second time.

Neither side could break the deadlock and the ref eventually blew to bring a frustrating 90 minutes to an end.
