Buildbase FA Trophy Third Round Replay - The Hive London – Tuesday 12th February 2019 – KO: 19:45
Barnet return to action tomorrow night when they welcome Bostik Premier Division side Carshalton Athletic to The Hive London in the Buildbase FA Trophy third round replay.
The Bees will go into the game hoping to pick themselves up from Saturday’s league defeat at home to Sutton United. James Dobson’s 37th minute free-kick proved to be the only goal of the game as Darren Currie’s men fell to a 1-0 defeat.
The last time these two sides met was just over a week ago in the initial tie that finished 3-3. First half goals from Shaq Coulthirst and Ephron Mason-Clark gave the visitors a comfortable half-time lead. However, the Robins hit back on 69 minutes through Ola Sogbanmu but the celebrations were short-lived as Coulthirst netted again three minutes later. An own goal from Byron Harrison and a spot-kick converted by Bobby Price meant Carshalton completed an unlikely come-back, taking the tie to a replay.
Manager: Peter Adeniyi
Peter Adeniyi was appointed manager in April 2016 and quickly improved proceedings at Carshalton as the Robins narrowly missed out on a play-off spot in his first season in charge. However, he did manage to guide the club to promotion last campaign, winning the Isthmian League South Division title on 102 points.
Adeniyi also tasted promotion with Merstham in 2015 and wore the captain’s armband at Dulwich Hamlet. The Carshalton boss also played for the likes of Eastleigh, Lewes and Bromley.
One to Watch: Ricky Korboa
Injuries hampered Ricky Korboa’s form last season, stopping the forward from capitalising on his impressive goal tally during the 2016-17 campaign where he netted over 20 times.
However, hoping to regain that prolific form very soon, the youngster currently tops Carshalton’s leading scorers for this season. He will also be going into tomorrow’s replay full of confidence having bagged a brace at the weekend, taking his tally to six.
Korboa is yet to find the net in the FA Trophy this campaign though and will be hoping to end that drought tomorrow night and help his side cause an upset.
Last Season’s FA Trophy Form:
Carshalton have already exceeded last season’s FA Trophy run after they bowed out of the competition in the preliminary round, losing 2-0 away at Heybridge Swifts.
Lewis Godbold opened the scoring just past the half-hour mark before Joan Luque ensured progression to the next round.
This Season’s FA Trophy Run:
However, things are looking a lot more brighter this season as far as the FA Trophy is concerned. Entering the competition at the first qualifying stage, The Robins began their run with a 2-1 replay win over Metropolitan Police after the initial tie ended 2-2.
They played host to Harlow Town in the next round, beating them 3-1 before knocking out Walton Casuals 2-0 at the final stage of qualifying.
After booking their place in round one, they edged out Dorking Wanderers with a 1-0 win before beating Salisbury 4-1 to face Barnet in round three.
Recent Form In All Competitions:
Carshalton, who sit 14th in the Bostik Premier, are unbeaten in their last 5 games in all competitions, winning either side of three consecutive draws.
The Robins beat Hornchurch 2-1 just over three weeks ago before having to settle for a 2-2 draw away at Whitehawk in their next fixture. That dramatic tie at home to Barnet came next before another 3-3 score-line followed, this time away at Worthing. However, they do go into tomorrow’s game in high spirits having won at the weekend, beating Haringey Borough 3-1 at home.
