Report | Barnet FC 2-1 Dorchester Town - Buildbase FA Trophy

12 January 2019

The Bees progressed through to the Third Round of the Buildbase FA Trophy following a 2-1 win over Dorchester Town.

The Bees made it two cup wins in a week and avoided being on the wrong side of an upset when they saw off Dorchester Town.

The first half was mostly dominated by Barnet but for all their effort, they failed to create any clear cut chances.

Charlee Adams struck the upright from range early on before a first time volley from Ephron Mason-Clark sailed over the crossbar.

Shaq Coulthirst had an effort deflect wide 11 minutes in and from the resulting corner, Craig Robson's header was cleared off the line.

The first chance for Dorchester came on a quarter of an hour in but Ben Seymour's free kick went comfortably over Mark Cousins' crossbar.

Jack Taylor had a free kick clip the top of the wall, making it comfortable for Kingsley Latham in the visitors goal.

Taylor headed over a cross from Elito shortly before the break before Antonio Diaz hit the side netting in first half stoppage time.

The Bees made a bright start to the second half and took the lead five minutes in.

Coulthirst latched onto a ball over the top by Adams, setting himself before slotting low past the keeper!

Dan Sweeney headed over the bar soon after before another chance fell to Coulthirst but this time his effort from 10 yards out was off target.

Taylor powered an effort low at goal and forced a good save from Latham but nobody in Black & Amber was there to tap home the rebound.

It was all-square in the 72nd minute, Barnet failed to deal with a good cross in, it was headed back across goal and Ben Seymour could make no mistake from close range.

Medy Elito had the ball in the net with a little over 10 minutes left to play but was adjudged to have strayed offside in the process.

That soon didn't matter though as a great cross from the left by Elliott Johnson was powerfully headed home by Robson to put the Bees back in front.

Barnet saw out the remained of the game and will be in the draw for the Third Round on Monday, tune in to talkSPORT2 at 12:15.
