Five of the best: Ebbsfleet United (H)

27 November 2019

We pick out the best moments as the Bees returned to winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Ebbsfleet United at The Hive London.

1. Akinola - the hat trick hero!

There is no doubt that the star of the show last night was the Bees number 14! On his return to the starting XI he put in a superb performance, as he netted an excellent hat-trick. He showed great composure in front of goal for his first two strikes, before sealing his hat-trick from the spot.

Simeon was put through on goal in the 42nd minute and he made no mistake as the Fleet keeper came out to meet him. His neat finish to put us 2-1 ahead at a crucial time and lifted the spirits of the Bee Army as we approached the break. It was his first time on the goal train since the trip AFC Fylde, he most certainly didn't show any nerves as he slotted past Palmer.

Akinola then put us back in front with another composed finish, as he raced in on goal. He carried the ball for some time but stayed calm to put us back ahead. He then sealed the three points and his hat-trick as he slotted home from the spot to score our fifth. You almost felt like it was never in doubt as he went up to the ball in his trademark style to pass the ball into the net.

It highlights how much confidence he can take from getting on the score sheet and long may it continue for Darren Currie's side. Our number 14 now has nine goals for the season and will look to kick on heading into the Christmas period.

2. Jack Taylor's thunderbolt!

We know he can hit them, but wow what a strike from the Bees number seven. He picked the ball up thirty yards from goal, before unleashing a powerful strike into the goal via the underside of the bar. The Irishman is having his own competition for the goal of the season award, taking into account his strikes against Chesterfield and Eastleigh!

Most importantly it set the Bees on their way on the evening as it put us ahead against the Fleet. It was certainly a goal for everyone in The Hive London to savor and is most certainly a goal to look out for on the highlights!

3. Tireless Josh Walker

He ran the channels, didn't give the Fleet defence a moment's rest and was crucial to the success of our attacking threat. The young striker defined teamwork and it clearly was one of the big factors in our return to winning ways. He then added to the work of his partner by adding a goal for himself and our fourth in a crazy night at The Hive London. It was some goal too, he danced through the Ebbsfleet defence, before delightfully poking the ball into the corner. He rightfully took the acclaim of the Bees faithful as he made way for Charlee Adams with seven minutes to play.

4. A wonderful team display

It was a five-star performance from the Bees! Darren Currie called for his side to be more clinical and boy did they respond as they looked ruthless throughout. The midfield didn't stop running from box to box and the forwards were superb in front of goal when the chances presented themselves. It will certainly do the player's confidence no harm and the creativity shown is something that we can build on moving onto AFC Fylde a week on Saturday.

5. The Bee Army support

We had our rocky patches in a topsy-turvy match, but your support never wavered! The Bee Army never stopped encouraging their side through the game and we hope everyone inside The Hive London enjoyed their evening. We have had some difficult times in recent weeks but you have stuck with us, with your support this can be the turning point!
