FA Cup: Relive the Bees best moments from 2018/19 season

15 October 2019

As the Bees head into the FA Cup this Saturday, we take a look at the best moments from our historic FA Cup run last season.

Fourth Qualifying Round - Barnet 4-2 Braintree Town

The Bees kicked off their Emirates FA Cup campaign by scoring four in a six-goal thriller at The Hive. After racing into a two-goal lead courtesy of David Tutonda and Jack Taylor, the Bees were pegged back by two quickfire Town goals.

However, Elliott Johnson and Cheye Alexander settled the nerves and ensured the Bees secured a safe passage into the First Round Proper.

After a 1-1 draw with the League One side at The Hive, the Bees travelled to the Memorial Stadium looking to create a cup upset, boy did they deliver! After Tom Nichols put the hosts ahead, the comeback was on as Craig Robson spectacularly equalised to put the Bees right back in the tie.

The travelling Bee Army were then sent into raptures as just two minutes later Byron Harrison slid home to turn the tie on its head and put his side in front. The boys in Amber and Black held on, to cap a historic night for the club.

Third Round - Sheffield United 0-1 Barnet

The Bees made the long trip to now Premier League Sheffield United and they were in the mood to create another huge cup upset. The Blades were flying high in the Championship and everyone expected a home formality at Bramall Lane, but Darren Currie's side defeated the odds.

The whole squad performed heroically on a cold day in Yorkshire, but it was Shaq Coulthirst who took the accolades as he netted from the spot to give the Bees that all-important goal. Up the other end, Mark Cousins made a superb stop at the death to ensure the 996 fans behind the goal went home in sheer ecstasy.

It was a result that will live long the memory with players, staff and of course the Bee Army, it was a result that received praise from many within the football community.

FA Cup Round four - Barnet 3-3 Brentford

Over 6000 fans turned out in a record attendance to witness an FA Cup classic at The Hive London. The Championship side took the lead just before the break, but Shaq Coulthirst scored two goals in three minutes to send the capacity crowd into delirium. However, Brentford hit back with two goals of their own to lead 3-2, but there was still another twist in the "battle of the Bees".

Dan Sparkes came off the bench to score a superb free-kick to once again level the scores with a goal that will forever remain a huge part of Bees history, with the iconic "Sparkes will fly" line.

It was a superb night of action at The Hive London, topped with a superb atmosphere from the Bees fans in attendance as we set up a replay back at Griffin Park.

Unfortunately, the Bees bowed out in the replay as they lost out 3-1 in West London, but it took nothing away from a cup campaign that will go down in the history books.
