The Bees take on Halesowen Town in the last eight of the Buildbase FA Trophy at The Hive London.
Barnet vs Halesowen Town
Saturday, 29th February 2020
The Hive London
Buildbase FA Trophy
Manager: Darren Currie
League Position: 12th (49 points)
Top Scorer: Simeon Akinola (16 goals)
The Bees have reached this stage thanks to wins over Weymouth, Farsley Celtic and Barrow AFC. Currie's side have played at home in each round and have been on the road to Farsley Celtic which went to a replay. Currie will be hoping his side can use home advantage and progress into the semi-finals.
Currie's side showed a different side to their game on Saturday as they rolled their sleeves up to grind out an important three points against a determined Chorley side. However, in this formidable run, the Bees have shown they can score goals for fun, as well as being defensively stable at the back. The impact of McCallum has been influential to Currie's side and the number 15 has scored two goals in as many matches since pulling on a Bees shirt.
The last time the Bees suffered defeat on home turf was way back in November when Stockport scored late to snatch all three points against Currie's side. Since then the Bees have remained unbeaten on home soil and picked up some memorable results along the way, none more so than the 3-0 victory over National League leaders Barrow in the FA Trophy.
Manager: Paul Smith
Stadium: The Grove
Southern League Position: 1st (60 points)
The Yeltz have enjoyed a successful campaign thus far and have only lost twice in the league all season. They sit two points clear at the top of the league with games in hand on those below them in the table. Their FA Trophy campaign has been equally impressive and they have dumped out two sides from the Bees division already, beating Maidenhead United and FC Halifax Town on their way to the last eight.
Halesowen Town will be backed by sizeable travelling support and they will be hoping to make the Bees their latest cup upset. The Yeltz have scored goals for fun this season and look certainties to secure promotion at the end of the season. They sit 3 tiers below Darren Currie's side, but there can be no room for complacency come 15:00.
Top scorer: Montel Gibson (30 goals)
Gibson is by far the Yeltz's top scorer and has netted 30 goals so far this term. He will certainly be the dangerman for the visitors and he'll be hoping to add to his impressive tally. The 22-year-old started his career at Notts County, before a succession of non-league loans followed. Gibson made five senior appearances for the Magpies before making a permanent transfer to Ilkeston Town where he scored 14 goals in 28 appearances. The striker then went on to play for Redditch United and Bedworth United, before making the move to the Black Country at the beginning of the season.
