The Barnet FC Walking Football Team enjoyed their biggest session to date last Friday, meaning our Walking Football sessions put on by The Hive Foundation are one of the biggest in the country.
There were 56 players spread across four astroturf pitches at The Hive London, enjoying a Friday afternoon of Walking Football in very blustery conditions at The Hive London.
Walking Football is aimed at the over 50 age category, with the aim of providing both positive physical and mental wellbeing. There is a great level of friendship across the participants, even if the games did get rather competitive at times!
The sessions have really gone from strength to strength in the last couple of years and the Walking Football Team can proudly boast that they are a part of the biggest Walking Football sessions in London, if not the country! Away from the pitch, the team have hosted various different social events, including popular quiz nights, but for now, they retreated for a socially distanced pint in The Hive Bar following another exciting session.
The Walking Football Bees have done some amazing charity work over the past two years as well, raising lots of awareness for mental health charities, as well as supporting the food bank collection over the first lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Whilst they await guidance from the authorities on whether they will be allowed to play on, they have ensured that they do another crucial bit for charity and they have organised to drop off supplies to the OneStonegrove community centre for their Christmas foodbank collection.

The Club would like to place on record it's great pride in both The Walking Football Team and our staff from The Hive Foundation who ensure these sessions go ahead. The Walking Football Team are an instrumental part of our Football Club and we look forward to continuing to support their various projects going forward.
