Barnet Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Ben Nugent, as the defender becomes Peter Beadles first signing of the summer.
Nugent is a tall, commanding centre back who will most certainly be a leader in the Bees backline. The 6ft 5 inches defender joins the Club with Football League pedigree, having made 222 senior career appearances to date.
The 27-year-old, has played for the likes of Cardiff City, Brentford, Peterborough United, Gillingham and Stevenage, he will be hoping to use that previous experience to the benefit of Beadle's side.
After starting his career in non-league football, Nugent made a move to the Welsh capital as he joined Cardiff City. He was part of the Bluebirds side that secured promotion to the Premier League in the 2012-13 season.
After tallying up significant Football League experience, Nugent now joins the Bees following a successful trial period, following his departure from Stevenage at the end of the 2019-20 season.
Speaking after joining the Club, Nugent said:
"It's nice to have signed. It's obviously been a weird few months, but to get back into that environment training, it's a nice feeling.
"I spoke to Peter and we had a chat, I liked the way he came across and the things he was saying, so it seemed like a good fitting. It's been quite an easy transition, coming in getting on with the boys and fitting into training."
Everyone at Barnet Football Club would like to welcome Ben to the Club and wish him every success for the 2020/21 season.
The deal is subject to ratification from relevant authorities.
