Boreham Wood vs Barnet FC
Tuesday 20th April, 19:45 KO
Vanarama National League
League Position: 11th (P34, W10, D15, L9)
Last Result: Yeovil Town 1-0 Boreham Wood (Saturday 17th April)
Manager: Luke Garrard
Top Scorer: Kabongo Tshimanga (17 goals)
Luke Garrard's side sits firmly in midtable but still will hold hopes of reaching The National League play-offs for a second successive season. Ultimately, their achilles heel this season has been the sheer number of draws the Wood have totted up so far this term. Before beating Wealdstone in their last home match, they went on a run of seven successive draws which will leave Luke Garrard thinking what might have been if they had just turned a couple of those draws into victories. The Wood sit seven points off the play off places but have played more games than the majority of teams that they are currently chasing. With games ticking away, it will take a sizeable winning run from our local neighbours if they are going to finish the season the way that the Wood fans will be hoping.
What a difference a week makes! The Bees backed up their hard-fought draw with Maidenhead United, with a dominant home win over Aldershot Town. Goals from JJ Hooper, Ephron Mason-Clark and Tomi Adeloye secured the Bees the points on Saturday and they'll head to Meadow Lane full of confidence, in the hope that they can continue the good feeling amongst the team. What has been impressive has been the resilence Simon Bassey's men have shown defensively in the two matches he has taken to date, they have conceded very few chances, whilst also being threatening on the counter attack. This will be another big test for the Bees, but Bassey will believe that if the same effort can be matched again then a result may just be in the Bees grasp.
In terms of team news, the Bees will be without the suspended Courtney Baker-Richardson who serves the third game of his three match ban. Meanwhile, Simon Bassey confirmed that Michael Petrasso is nearing a return and is back out training with the team, which will be a welcome boost to the Bees in their upcoming matches.
LAST TIME OUT:
