After his Man of the Match performance on his debut against Maidenhead United, we caught up with Sam Beard ahead of our clash with Aldershot Town.
On Joining the Bees:
"It's great to be here, it's a great Club, great set up, great coach, the boys are really good and I've really enjoyed my time so far. I'm really pleased to be playing full-time football and to be at the Club."
On his first week and his debut:
"It was a great game to come into, a clean sheet and the boss had us well drilled on the Thursday and Friday. He made sure we were solid. To come in and get the Man of the Match and into the Team of the Week, I was really happy.
"It was a silly yellow from me to be honest, I probably shouldn't have got it. From then on I had to be sensible, the boys were really solid and I felt we deserved the clean sheet."
On potentially making his home debut:
"I'm really looking forward to playing inside the stadium on Saturday, it looks really good, the pitch looks great! It's going to be another tough battle, but we need to build on the clean sheet we got on Saturday and progress from there I think."
On the rest of the campaign:
"As a team, we have to keep building and get as many points as we can. We need to put in some better performances and give the fans something to shout about. We need to play for the badge, do as well as we can and finish the season on a high."
On his time at Dorking Wanderers:
"I was with Dorking for five years, it's a really good set up and the boys were quality. They are a Club that is on the rise and I wouldn't be surprised to see them in The National League in the next couple of years.
"I think they would have secured it (promotion) this year, but I had a great time and they really helped me progress."
On his relationship with the boys:
"It was obviously nice to join on the same day as a new boy (Sam Skeffington), obviously the boss had just come in, so it was a pretty good time to join. It worked quite well in the end! It's a really good group of lads here and I am looking forward to being apart of the team.
