The Bees have completed the loan signing of left back Richard Taylor on loan from League Two side Southend United. The full back becomes Tim Flowers' eighth signing since taking the helm, as he continues to build his squad for the second part of the campaign.
Taylor, who started his career as a scholar at Premier League side Burnley, joined Southend United in July 2019. During his time with the League Two side, he has played at both centre-back and left-back.
The loan signing of the 20-year-old represents a good fit for Tim Flowers, with the boss looking to steady the ship defensively going forward into the remaining matches of the 2020/21 campaign. With the defensive additions of Liam Daly, Myles Judd, Ben Richards-Everton and Themis Kefalas, Taylor adds further competition to the Bees defensive options, whilst also becoming our eighth new signing since December.
So far this season, the versatile defender has played in 16 matches in league and cup competitions for Mark Molesley's side. The loan gives Taylor the opportunity to gain more match minutes and experience of First Team football in The National League.
Taylor joins initially on a one-month loan deal, with an option to extend the deal further at the end of March.
Our newest recruit will be available for selection for tomorrow night's televised BT Sport fixture with Hartlepool United. Taylor will wear the number 37 during his time with the Club.
