Hartlepool are proving to be real dark horses in the race for the Football League as they currently sit in third position, seven points behind leaders Torquay, but with two games in hand. The main concern for Pools fans has been their sides consistency, dropping 29 points so far this season and being inflicted with some heavy defeats including a 5-0 loss at home to Torquay and a 3-0 loss away to Woking.

They picked up a valuable point on the road against Wrexham on Tuesday, but it confirmed that in their last eight away games, they now only have one win, with Victoria Park appearing to get the best out of the Pools players.

THE BEES

Tim Flowers will be wanting a lot more from his players on Saturday, after being thrashed 5-1 by King’s Lynn Town on Tuesday. Despite being only 2-1 down at the break and very much in the game from the restart, some poor defending allowed King’s Lynn to take advantage and run away with the game, condemning the Bees to their 15th loss in the league this season.

Flowers was extremely critical of his sides heart and desire on Tuesday and the boys will now have to prove that they have the fight as they face the daunting prospect of taking on one the teams with the best home record in the division. The Bees have sporadically shown they are capable of performances but have to start finding some consistency if they have any hope of pushing up the league table.

While defending has been a problem, attacking wise Flowers' men will hope to be more potent in front of goal. The Bees lack of goals will hope to be boosted by the signing of striker Tomi Adeloye who has joined on a short-term deal and brings experience from a number of non-league sides, but also a short spell playing in the PL2 with Stoke City.

The performance the last time the sides met was one of few chances, but a positive one which could have easily have been a win for the Bees. They will be hoping they can produce something similar on Saturday in front of the TV cameras, but going one step further to try and get those all-important three points.

LAST TIME WE MET:

A 0-0 stalemate was the result in the reverse fixture back in November at the Hive.
