The Bees will be hoping for a successful return to action as they make the trip to The Midlands to face Solihull Moors in Vanarama National League action. Preview in association with LVBet
Solihull Moors FC vs Barnet FC
Saturday 13th February 2021, 15:00 KO
Vanarama National League
League Position: 14th (P17 W8 D2 L7)
Last Result: Hartlepool 2-0 Solihull Moors (Tuesday 9th February 2021)
Manager: Jimmy Shan
Club Captain: Kyle Storer
Despite their recent poor run of form, which has seen them pick up only four points in their last four games and also saw their exit from the FA Trophy at the hands of Aldershot Town, the Moors still find themselves only six points off the play-off places, with four games in hand over Wrexham in seventh place.
The defeat to Hartlepool United Tuesday was an unfortunate one for the Moors and they were unlucky in their efforts not to get more from the game, up against a Pools side who are pushing ever closer to sitting on top of the league table.
Solihull will be eager to put things right on Saturday and will be boosted by the return of striker Adam Rooney, who made his first start in three months on Tuesday evening and who has built a decent reputation for scoring goals at the likes of Stoke City, Birmingham City, Aberdeen and most recently Salford City.
After Tuesday’s game with Halifax Town was postponed, it meant that Saturday’s game with the Moors would be the Bees first in nearly two weeks when they were unlucky to see defeat away to Aldershot Town. The performance was a lot more positive from Tim Flowers side, taking the lead through Michael Petrasso, but were ultimately punished for not building on it. The Bees can take positives from recent performances but by hook or by crook will be desperate to take something home from the West Midlands on Saturday afternoon.
The games are coming thick and fast for the Bees, with a number of weekend and midweek fixtures in a row, up against some difficult opposition. A win on Saturday is vital in order to get points on the board to boost confidence in the team and build on the improving performances seen in the defeats to Aldershot and Torquay. With Solihull looking to keep up with the rest of the play-off chasers, the Bees will need to stay focused for the full 90 minutes.
Matt Preston is nearing a return to action after being involved with the warm-up sessions, but will not be available for selection for the next run of matches. Josh Walker is also back from St George's Park but hasn't completely recovered from the injury sustained against Boreham Wood.
LAST TIME WE MET:
A penalty was all that separated the two sides when they last faced off, as the Moors ran out 1-0 winners, back in February 2020, at Damson Park.
The Moors have called a pitch inspection for tomorrow morning at 09:30.
WHERE TO FOLLOW THE ACTION:
The hosts will be providing a stream to the game via their website, in the link below, at a cost of £7.50. We'd advise waiting for the outcome of the pitch inspection before purchasing.
