Match Report: Kings Lynn Town 5-1 Barnet

23 February 2021

On a extremely bleak evening at the Walks Stadium, the Bees were well beaten by Kings Lynn Town.

The Bees made a disastrous start at The Walks as the hosts took the lead inside seven minutes, as a swift Linnets counter attacker was touched home by Michael Gash.

It was the former Bee at the double eight minutes later, as he powered a header home from six yards out, after the hosts broke down the Bees left-hand side.

It took until the 30-minute mark for Flowers' men to respond as JJ Hooper latched onto a long ball forward before slotting the ball into the back of the net.

The hosts responded well to conceding and almost restored their two goal advantage, only for Scott Loach to make an outstanding fingertip stop to turn the ball behind.

Up the other end, the Bees were almost on level terms as Michael Petrasso burst into the box, but fizzed his effort wide of the near post.

We came within inches just two minutes before the break as a fantastic Anthony Wordsworth free-kick was headed just wide of the goal.

The Bees had a golden chance to draw level just after the restart but Harry Taylor could only poke his effort wide of the post. Meanwhile, up the other end, Kings Lynn came within inches of a third goal, as they struck an effort against the crossbar.

It was soon 3-1 for the hosts just after the hour mark as Cameron King powered the ball under Loach and into the net. It was a very soft goal for the Bees to concede and put the home side in the ascendancy.

The Bees never threatened after that point to get back into the game,

The Bees crumbled in the final ten minutes and conceded a further two poor goals complied on the misery on a terrible night for Tim Flowers' men.

Barnet: Loach, Connors (McQueen 20'), Dunne, Petrasso, Hooper, Kefalas, Taylor, Baker-Richardson, Judd, Daly, Wordsworth.
